V-IMPACT
Not a good sign for the Penguin solar system since their reconnaissance satellite has picked up the presence of an evil alien covenant invaders approaching. Since it has no army, the system possesses no weapons of mass destruction of any kind. However, a force of one brave penguin, Ppang-Gu, and his spaceship, the V-Impact, could maybe defeat them ?

Hop aboard the V-Impact and get ready for an insane spaceship travel in the vaccum of space, through the oppression of a whole bunch of invaders. Be prepared to overcome the stage and fully control territory held by enemy. Take on each of the Bosses waiting for you in the stage, and keep always in mind that all penguins are counting on you !

V-Impact has been developed during almost two years for the fantasy video game console Pico-8 and launched on 11 March 2025 on itch.io so that it could be extensively used for free.
After all my previous experiences and those currently under development, the Lazy Devs Academy Advanced Shmup Development tutorials was ideally a chance to help me realize one of my dreams : to complete and publish my first game.
Thus, I would like to thank Krystian Majewski who gave me the knowledge gaps and programming skills to develop V-Impact. Thank you for your generosity Krystian ! And I really have to thank my wife for her support during the development of the game !
Thanks also to all those who will play my game ! And all those who will be involved in helping to fund my work as well ! A huge thanks to you all !

Very pretty sprites :)
Thank you very much~! I hope you like the game! ミ★(*^▽゚)v Thanks!!★彡
This was a lot of fun! We need to practice a lot more though ahaha!
Oh, thank you so much for this video. I really enjoyed watching it and hearing you have fun! (v^-゚)Thanks♪
"V-Impact" is a rather short but quite challenging game. The more you play, learn the patterns, the more you improve. It's true that the game demands a lot of personal investment.
Petite video dessus
Thanks to you, misterjbam (⌒▽⌒)☆ (je garde l'anglais pour la forme). V-Impact is therefore a memo-shmup, with a slightly tough difficulty. So, I really advise you to play it with a controller. I hope you persevere and have a good time on V-Impact! Thanks again to you~! (((o(*°▽°*)o)))
This is excellent. Insta-buy. Two suggestions:
- There seems to be an obligatory waiting time before start. I wish I could just play again faster
- I feel the collision on the player ship is a bit large. In game like Dodonpachi or other bullet hell shooters, the collision for the player ship is usually smaller than the sprite, which lets the player be more bold and it feels much less punishing
But, again, this game is great. Good job!
Thank you for your purchase and your comments (°▽°)/
These are indeed two main criticisms, but I intentionally left them in the final version. I hope it doesn't spoil your gaming experience too much, m(_ _)m.
The delays become less noticeable as you become more familiar with the game and the longer the sessions get.
The game is meant to be a tribute to the 80~90s shoot 'em ups, so the hitboxes are quite large indeed. The difficulty therefore relies on precision, positioning, and finding your own strategies to get through the trickiest parts. Collecting and using bombs is a real plus, don't neglect them!
Hang in there, the game isn't easy, and it relies heavily on learning. With skill, you can reach the end!
Thanks again, and have fun playing! (((o(*°▽°*)o)))
Cool! Getting to ~18000 so far :) Do I spot a reference to Tyrian in one of the enemy ships?
Great, I hope you enjoy the game! (^^) Tyrian? I didn't know it (if it only came out on PC, that's why then). Don't hesitate to tell me which enemy it is, I'm quite curious! But no, it’s not one of my inspirations...
Wow, the art and animations are impressive! I really like how the game controls and feels. Couldn't get very far though. At some point there is some kind of very small round yellow-ish enemy I have trouble to see, and it just got me every time.
Thank you so much for your feedback~! <(_ _*)> Glad you like the game aesthetically and the feeling, whether you play with a controller or a keyboard?! The game is quite difficult and requires you to know it well, through playing it and knowing its patterns. I recommend eliminating this ground enemy from a distance while they're still moving. This type of enemy is important to eliminate because, like all ground enemies, they reward you with a coin (6 for a bomb). The game sometimes lacks clarity, but by observing enemy behavior carefully, you won't be fooled. And it's really not bad to have made it this far! Hang in there!
I'm playing with a controller. Now that you mention it, I didn't notice that the sort of bubbles I had trouble with were shot by ground ennemies! Now that I've noticed them, I was able to go a bit further. Still not enough to obtain a bomb though. But I got to see cool other enemies design!
Yes, try to collect 6 coins to get a bomb. There aren't many bombs in the game, but using them in strategic locations will be a big help when it comes to reaching the final boss! p(#^▽゚)q
My score is 13600.
With a controller.
What I notice is that the ship is very slow compared to fast bullets and enemies. (It doesn't have to be easy)
You already have a powerup for the bomb.
Can you maybe make something like Gradius / Nemesis, that you can take a coin for speed?
I will definitely keep practicing, it takes a lot of time Haha
Thank you so much for your feedback~! And thank you for playing my game! (*´∀’)b The V-Impact's speed has undergone many changes throughout the game's development, and I've adjusted it as best I can to adapt to all situations. It's particularly important for boss fights. Increasing it will unfortunately create problems... I know it takes time to get used to it, and especially to know the game well to progress as best as possible. The game is designed to be difficult, played with a lot of memorization, concentration and skill^^ Hang in there, I really want the player to feel self-satisfaction at having reached the end! (varying the speed with an option system, to be adapted according to the different segments of the game, was unfortunately far too complicated for a fairly short game...). A hint: collect each coin well and identify the strategic moments to use your bombs and get through the most difficult moments of the game! (^^ )
It does remind me of the old days to learn the enemy patterns by heart.
This is also my first game in my collection.
That will be practice again LOL
Yes! I could summarize V-Impact in 3 steps: master the game's "common thread" and eliminate all the mysteries, memorize the patterns by replaying as many times as necessary, and improve your game thanks to the visuals, sounds, movements, and sensations. You will gradually see your "skill" improve. p(#^▽゚)q And yes, it's all just practice!
very nice
Thank you for your feedback~! (人´∀`) ~♪ Glad you like the game!
This is really great work! Congrats on your first published game.
One thing though -- I am begging you to reconsider the enemy that shoots gray shots against a gray background. Not my preferred kind of challenge.
Thank you, that's very kind of you! Indeed, this is a problem I knew existed and some people have complained about it... I'd like to keep the game as it is, but maybe I'll make some corrections if it's too recurrent. In any case, thank you for your feedback! (v^-゚)
Art is crazy ! Congratulations !!
Thank you so much! ~(^-^) I did my best for "good looks" and attention to detail. Glad you like it!
Game is amazing! Wanna buy it right now!
Thank you so much~! I'm glad you like it, sincerely. A downloadable version, for all operating systems, will come later, don't worry. In the meantime, you can enjoy it quietly and for free in the browser! ٩( ╹▿╹ )۶
Hi Louco, V-Impact is now available for download for $5 (#^.^#) in a pack including the Windows, Linux, Osx, Raspi, p8 and p8.png files. I hope you still enjoy the game and have fun!
Such a full product experience! I haven't beaten it yet because I'm bad at shmups XD but this game is freaking amazing!!! This is incredible work! Great Job!
Thank you so much for your comment, your feedback, and your congratulations on my work on V-Impact! It means a lot to me ☆(*^-^*) Hang in there, once you get to know it better, it's not that difficult!
Shoot'em Ups were one of my favorite genres of video game when I was younger. Still one of my favorites today! V-impact is excellent. Great job on this.
Ah, if you lived through the boom years of shoot-em-ups, from the late 80s to the mid-90s, like me, V-Impact is a tribute to it, and I'm glad you like it! Nothing innovative in my game, but a tidy realisation, at least, I hope so. Thanks and happy gaming! p(#^▽゚)q
awesome game, congratulations, do you plan to release a downloadable version later ?
Thanks so much, StardustX! I haven't decided on a date yet... For now, I'll leave the free "in-browser" playable version alone for a while. But late, adding the EXE files (Windows, Linux, etc.) (*´ー`*)ノ Yes!
Thanks a lot for this great work :)
Et français en plus ;)
Please, share the p8 file too ... i don't really play games on my PC :(
I always DL them to play them on my TV with my all other games ... The feeling is better, like on a real old console with a real gamepad ...
Thanks
Eh ben, merci bien ! (*´∀’)b I know there's a demand from Pico 8 players to be able to play it on nomade too (I'm a home console player myself). The EXE files (p8) will come later, I'm not sure how yet (for a few dollars?!) or when?!.. But it will come, for sure, don't worry. My primary goal was to release it for free for everyone to play on the browser.
And a Pico-8 Cart (png) ? I still have a pocket chip and a RGB30 and I'd like to play your game on those, especially the RGB30 wich is a great handheld device to play pico-8 games natively.
Hmm... I was already thinking about the EXE (Linux, Osx, Raspi, Windows) that will be available for download on this itch page. I only know the RGB30 by name... does it only read PNG cartridges?!
An EXE will not work even a linux compatible one cause it needs to be compiled for the specificities of the hardware and the particular OS, it runs PNG CARTS or you can browse games using SPLORE with your legit PICO-8 licence but I suppose the game must be release as a cart on Lexaloffle official PICO-8 website in this case.
Thanks for your reply! (・´∀`・)ノ It will most likely be included in the Pico 8 SPLORE eventually, but I don't have any plans for that right away. The next step will be to make it available for download here for those who want to purchase the game, perhaps for a small fee.
I absolutely love it! Great look, great sound, so fun to play and oh-so juicy! This is a ton of fun, and a fantastic addition to the SHMUP Hall of Fame. I'm looking forward to sitting down with a controller and really digging in!
Thank you so much for your interest in the game! It's so great. The "Hall of Fame", wow σ(゚・゚*)・・・! I don't know... And yes, my advice to you therefore is to play with concentration in a quiet environment and above all, with a controller !
Looks fun
It was obviously extremely important to me that we have fun, so thank you very much for your comment~! \(^^\)
Epic Graphic.
Thank you so much~!!! (*´∀`)ノ Thanks♪
well done! (tho is *hard* for a bad player like me!)
excellent use of pico8 features.
et vive la France :)
Thanks for your comment! I designed the game to be a bit challenging, being quite short. It requires perseverance, and learning to progress gradually... until the end. I hope it will make you want to play again. Hang in there! p(#^▽゚)q (and thanks for France! hihi)
if there is one thing to improve then that would be skippable menus.
the logo and the scores take ages to disappear and cannot be dismissed.
Yes, it's a deliberate choice, in homage to many, many old games. I'd like to keep the game as I imagined it... but I understand that not everyone will appreciate this choice... ヾ(_ _*) On the other hand, the better you get at the game, the longer the game sessions become, and the menu times are also nice, hihi!
Sick Game! Well done!
Thank you Krystian! Your reaction is great! ( v^-゚) I hope I wasn't too "sick" in the difficulty hihi. The comments will tell! (o^ ^o)
